Joel Schultz
Founder & Co-Owner
Joel is a founder and co-owner of Core Tech Construction. He covers business operations at Core Tech, which includes sales, finance, DOT compliance, HR, and all other tasks associated with a growing fiber optic construction company.
Joel is a telecommunications professional with over 25 years of experience planning, coordinating, and constructing large outside plant projects all over the US. He’s spent time working as an engineer for a consulting firm, implementation manager at a large communications provider, and as a project manager at a large construction company, so he’s been involved with large fiber optic overbuilds from every perspective. Joel holds a current PMP certification from the Project Management Institute and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lakeland University.
Having managed fiber optic buildouts at all levels, Joel brings a wealth of experience to Core Tech projects. He understands the intricacies of construction projects and knows how to navigate the challenges that such projects often bring. He is passionate about seeing projects from concept to completion and has a knack for thinking outside the box and finding creative ways to get things done when necessary.
Outside of work Joel enjoys spending time with his wife Laura and his daughter Rebecca. He is passionate about fishing-especially in Northern WI. Most weekends Joel is in Vilas County WI chasing musky and walleye. He is also a die-hard Packers and Brewers fan.
Jalen peters
Founder & Co-Owner
Jalen is a founder and co-owner of Core Tech Construction. He focuses on the daily/weekly, scheduling/movement of crews while also record keeping for invoicing. He also plays a vital role of communication between Core Tech and its partners on a daily basis.
Jalen has experience in the telecommunications industry in multiple different fields. First, starting his career in telecommunications at Bug Tussel he was a titled PM that kept track of drop crews and their reports, improving skills such as number analysis, engaging with customers, installers, drop crews and working with all sorts of different data systems. He later took interest in shifting over to more on hand roles to learn the field more in depth. In that time he has learned how to install fiber into the home.
Jalen later took a General Laborer position at a different company with sole purpose of better improving his skills on operating equipment, locating, handling of fiber and most importantly learning how to plow fiber in as safe, clean and efficient way as possible. In that time, he has gained many skills to properly and confidently start a business in this industry.
Outside of work he likes to watch sports, football and baseball being his favorite. #GOPACKGO #BREWCREW

Garrett McKinnon
Founder & Co-Owner
Garrett is a co-owner of Core Tech Construction. Covering day to day operations to maximize productivity, training new employees to create a safe and productive workforce, and equipment maintenance.
Over the past two years, Garrett has specialized in fiber optic line installation, working across multiple counties throughout Wisconsin as well as Indiana. During this time, he has gained hands-on experience in the telecommunications infrastructure field, with a primary focus on fiber drops.
Garrett has experience operating and working with multiple types of construction and fiber installation equipment, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the tools and machinery necessary to complete projects efficiently and safely.
Outside of work, Garrett enjoys spending time snowboarding, staying active and enjoying the outdoors.
